Sending Text Messages

Sending bulk messages to staff is only available through the "Send Email" option found in the "Dashboard". The SMS component of our service is designed to enhance the functionality of the service, not as a means to communicate with staff in bulk.

NOTE: Since receiving text messages can cost money, employees must opt-in to receiving text message alerts by changing their alert preferences. If your employees are not registered for the schedule, here's how you can direct them to register.

In order to prevent excessive and abusive use of SMS, text messaging is only used to communicate with your staff in the following circumstances:

  1. When a manager SENDs & APPROVEs the schedule via the "Scheduler".
  2. As a shift reminder, which is automated based on the schedule and user preferences.
  3. When you add a new employee to the schedule, they are invited to register for access.
  4. When a shift drop or swap is created, approved or denied.
  5. When a time-off request is created, approved or canceled.
  6. When a ShiftReplace request is created or accepted.
  7. When an OpenShift notification is sent or an OpenShift is taken.
  8. When a shift is canceled.
  9. When 2-way SMS keywords are sent to the service.

Sending SMS from the Mobile Apps: Our Android and iPhone Apps allow you to send custom SMS text messages, however, they are sent from your phone number and use your service plan. Standard text messaging rates apply when sending bulk text messages from the mobile app.
